See New York City

The Way A Former

NYTIMES Photo Editor

Sees It

I am a born-and-bred New Yorker with a passion for photographing the amazing buildings, designs, and architecture throughout this great city. Nothing jazzes me up more than walking around Manhattan and Just Looking Up!

I love to teach people how to look up and see the city from a whole new perspective. I am a former NYTimes Photo Editor and freelance photojournalist whose work is in The Museum of the City of New York and has been published around the world. My photos of the NYPD “On The Job” are featured in the opening title sequence of the Emmy Award-Winning NBC drama Law & Order: SVU.

I developed my Just Look Up NYC photo walks to be more than a photography lesson. Your cameras are just the tools, although great ones at that. The real experience is showing you firsthand how to discover the details most pass by each and every day, without seeing and realizing the beauty above us.

What Makes This Different?

Walk and discover the city through a different lens.  In a small group of just four people, we will explore the benefits of the art of Just Looking Up, slowing down, studying our surroundings, and learning to See New York Differently. During our three hours together, you'll begin noticing the details that most people walk right past. We'll finish by sharing and discussing some of your favorite images captured along the way. I can't wait to meet you and explore the city together.
